The Influence of Treatment That is Accompanied With Mental Practice for Stroke Patients on Upper Extremity Function and Activities of Daily Living
Kim Sagn-Kuel

Abstract
Objective : It is willing to investigate the influence of treatment that is accompanied with imagery training for stroke patients on upper extremity function and capability of performing daily life activities.

Methods: After randomizing allocation of stroke patients who live in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, the treatment that accompanied with imagery training was applied to the test group of 16 members and the general treatment was applied to the control group of 15 members for 40 minutes a day, three times a week during four weeks. Vividness of Movement Imagery Questionnaire (VMIQ) was used as the test of imaging the scene of exercise, Fugl-Meyer Assessment Scale (FMA) was used as the upper extremity functional test and Korea Modified Bathel Index (K-MBI) was used as the test of capability of performing daily life activities. Preliminary test was carried out before the mediation and the groups were compared each other by performing post-test after applying the mediation.

Results: The significant improvement was shown regarding VMIQ, FMA, K-MBI from the test group after the medication and regarding VMIQ and FMA from the control group. The test group was improved more than the control group significantly from the group comparison after the mediation.

Conclusion : Based on the results of this research, it is expected that the treatment that is accompanied with imagery training would be more helpful for improving upper extremity function and Activities of daily living than general treatment.
